OUR DREAM

It began in 2004 in a small apartment and has since blossomed into a vibrant diverse community. From daily services to adult education, social events and weekly food distribution; Chabad of Downtown is here for every facet of the community.

With its warm and inviting approach, Chabad is a place where people from all walks of life—regardless of background, affiliation or level of observance—feel welcome and at home.

For thirteen years, Chabad of Downtown has dreamed of the day it would build a center of our own — filled with the pursuit of knowledge and the spirit of community. That day is at hand. The campaign to build the new Chabad Jewish Community Center is underway. The fulfillment of this dream depends on people of initiative and compassion, of vision and generosity.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Together, we have created a community.  Now, we are building a home.  You can make it happen!

THE CHALLENGES

·         Our current center operates out of a rented historic facility without a long-term lease.
·         Property in Downtown S Diego is hard time find and very expensive.
·         Location is a key component to the various needs we serve.

THE SOLUTION

·         Purchasing our own property
·         Work towards a completed project in three phases
·         Build a center in a prime location

THE OPPORTUNITY

A Chabad Jewish Community Center at 472 Third Avenue will serve to further our vision of creating a vibrant Jewish experience to all Jews, regardless of affiliation or background. It will serve as a permanent home for spiritual growth as well as social and community services.
